She was weanling and yearling champion at Dressage At Devon, and then was sold to False Bay Farm in Washington as a broodmare. Her first foal (of 4 for False Bay Farm) was LYRICIST, a black gelding by MAHON born in 1985, who we bought along with LILLY, in 1988. LYRICIST (now deceased) was an amazingly versatile horse. We started him when he was 4, and for the first 2 years evented him at the novice and training level, as well as showing in local hunter and jumper shows. When he was 7, we decided just to concentrate on dressage. He showed to 3rd level with marks in the mid to high 60's, usually getting a "9" for his extended trot. In 1995, we sold LYRICIST. Under Young Rider Lauren Moneta, he was USDF All Breeds Champion at 4th level Freestyle in 1999 and 2000, as well as 3rd in the ATA year end Awards at Intermediate 1 in 2002. We were very sad to hear that LYRICIST had died in 2003. Lyricist Lyricist Lyricist Lyricist LILLY has had 6 fabulous foals for us- LARAZZI, (see stallions) and LARUSO, (see horses sold) both by ENRICO CARUSO; MAX by CICERO (HOL); LA LAUREATE by CHEENOOK (HOL); LAYANI (see young horses) by PYATT CHARLY; and LATESSA (see young horses) by HIGH KNIGHT. LILLY was also approved by the American Holsteiner Association, and LA LAUREATE was awarded Premium mare status at the Holsteiner Approvals. LILLY is now retired to her favourite pasture. She looks (and acts) half her age, and we hope she will be around for a long time!! Max Lilly and La Laureate Lilly and La Laureate Lilly and Layani Lilly and Layani Lilly and La Tessa Lilly and La Tessa Lilly at 19 Years Old Bloodlines Sire Line- Blitzwind Blitzwind Blitzwind Blitzwind Blitzwind LILLY is by the Black German Verband Approved stallion BLITZWIND, a "First Class Trakehner Stallion". He did very well at his performance test in Germany, then was sold to Holland, where he stood at stud as an "improver " to the Dutch breed. BLITZWIND was imported to the U.S. in 1979, where, at the age of 9, he "restarted" under saddle and became ATA Second Level Champion. We bought BLITZWIND in in 1982. He competed in local jumper shows, and then very successfully up to Prix St. Georges in dressage. In 1986, he won the team silver and the individual bronze medal at the Western Canada Games. BLITZWIND sired many lovely foals - they all inherited their sires' kind, calm temperament, beautiful head and neck, and are very versatile performers. He was an especially good "broodmare producer", with daughters producing approved stallions and other top riding horses. BLITZWIND's sire is the incredible DONAUWIND, who has some of the most valuable blood in the Trakehner breed through the renowned stallion line founder, PREGEL. DONAUWIND sired 19 approved sons and more than 100 approved daughters. He was well known for producing first class, multi-talented riding horses who are very rideable and trainable. DONAUWIND's most famous offspring is the legendary jumper stallion ABDULLAH, who won World Championships as well as Olympic Gold and Silver medals. DONAUWIND also sired the stallion FABIAN- a Grand Prix dressage horse ridden by Dr.Reiner Klimke. Donauwind Pregel Abdullah Fabian Dam Line- LIBELLA V "E" LAVINIA "E" LEONIDAS LEONIDAS LILLY's dam is the mare LIBELLA V "E" by SIEGBERT. LIBELLA V was bought by Hilda Gurney after she judged her and her champion filly (LILLY) at the Dressage at Devon horse show. LIBELLA is the winner of the 1990 Gerda Friedrichs Memorial Award for outstanding breeding success. She is the dam of the Approved Trakehner Stallion LEONIDAS, and the "Exceptional" mare LAVINIA- both who were ATA champions in Grand Prix dressage, USDF All Breed Champions in the Grand Prix Freestyle, as well as winners of the Trakehner Verband Award. Both these amazing horses by CONDUS were ridden by Hilda Gurney of Keenridge Farm in Moorpark, CA. LIBELLA V is also dam to the very successful dressage horses LETO, LAVENDER and LILAC.
